‘EVERYBODY KNOWS’ The largest solo exhibition by Hong Kong-born international artist Kasing Lung at LANDMARK

LANDMARK, BELOWGROUND and How2work present ‘EVERYBODY KNOWS’, a solo art exhibition and retail concept by Kasing Lung, available for public viewing between 26th March to 26th April 2024, spanning from the ground floor to the basement of LANDMARK Atrium. The Hong Kong-born artist first rose to fame when he released ‘The Monsters’ story series, amongst which Labubu, the character gained enormous popularity. This marks his largest solo exhibition in his hometown, where his visionary world populated by beloved characters, will be presented in LANDMARK and take over the entirety of BELOWGROUND.
Spreading message of joy, love and peace, a specially-designed gallery will be set up within LANDMARK Atrium, where cut-out motifs of Lung’s iconic characters form the encircling walls as if they were audiences admiring his works of art. Realised by award-winning global agency, Kennedy London, the structure showcases a striking reinterpretation of the artist’s signature style. 25 new paintings – some almost 2 metres tall – will be displayed within the space, drawing visitors into the artist’s mystical world, full of monsters and creatures from his imagination. Taking centre stage of the exhibit is the ‘EVERYBODY KNOWS’ triptych that showcases his vibrant ensemble of characters and the iconic Labubu. Drawing inspiration from his own daughter, Lung describes the Labubu character as mischievous, playful, and endlessly curious about the world, resembling his own personality.

Offering an immersive experience, ‘EVERYBODY KNOWS’ continues throughout BELOWGROUND with an extensive retrospective display of the artist’s works including sculptures, sketches and collaboration items. Presenting a dramatic display of Lung’s archive art toys, the emblematic ‘Mirror Room’ presents an infinite reflection of over 700 figurines made by the artist over the years. In this mesmerising space, a whole cast of characters, including Labubu, Zimomo and KingMon, are waiting to be discovered.
“When I discover something new, I quickly grab my pencil and sketch everything on paper. ‘EVERYBODY KNOWS’ explores all these diverse topics that I see from around the world, which I now invite visitors to discover,” says the artist.
“LANDMARK continues our commitment to connecting our community with art, making it accessible for everybody,” says Ms. Jennifer Lam, Director and Head of Marketing & Communications at Hongkong Land. “Envisioned by a Hong Kong-born international artist, we wanted to create a world of imagination for our visitors, providing an inspirational space to be enjoyed right in the centre of our city.”

Offering a serene environment to enjoy art, a dedicated exhibition showing over 200 sketches and drawings alongside sculptures by the artist will be accessible at BELOWGROUND. Punctuated by life-sized figurines, other areas at BELOWGROUND will display Lung’s collaborations with brands such as Globe-Trotter, Vans, retaW Fragrance and Hidden NY. All merchandise is available to purchase during the exhibition period and is designed as limited-edition pieces exclusively for LANDMARK and BELOWGROUND.
